Pratie Oaten - Irish
Festival
|
|
Saturday, September
10, 2011
9:00 AM to 5pm
In 1987, Grey County
held its first Irish
Potato Festival; we
chose to call the
event Pratie Oaten.
Pratie is an Irish
word meaning potato,
while Oaten means
oats. A Pratie Oaten
is an Irish style
food made by
combining the two
staple ingredients
of oats and
potatoes. This event
was held annually up
to 2003 when the
museum was relocated
to its present site
here on Grey Road
18. In 2010 the
Pratie Oaten
festival returned,
so come out again
and celebrate Irish
culture at Grey
Roots as well as the
Ann Milne School of
Dance Highland Dance
Competition.
Admission required.
